Common questions

Which consoles can I play?

Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super Nintendo (SNES) are playable. Other systems may appear as library filters, but their games are not playable yet.

How do I add games?

Save a compatible ROM to Files or iCloud Drive, tap + in Reprise and select the file. Use .nes for NES or .sfc/.smc for Super Nintendo. Extract ZIP files in Files before importing.

Where can I get games?

Use games released by their creators, public-domain or open-source homebrew, or other copies you have permission to use. Find Games inside Reprise links to homebrew resources. Reprise does not provide downloads of commercial games.

Can I use a controller?

Reprise detects connected controllers supported by iOS. Touchscreen controls can also be customized for portrait and landscape.

How do I keep my saves?

Use the save button while playing. Saves are kept locally. In Cloud Saves you can optionally enable iCloud backup and sync, provided iCloud Drive is available. ROM files are not uploaded.

Why did my game not import?

Check the file format and extract ZIP archives first. Currently NES .nes and SNES .sfc/.smc files are playable.

Can I rename or remove a game?

Press and hold a game to rename it or delete it, or use the Delete swipe action. Renaming changes only its label. Deleting removes Reprise’s copy, not your original file in Files.

Deleting your data

Deleting a game from the Reprise library removes Reprise’s imported copy, not the original in Files. Deleting Reprise removes its locally stored game files, save states and settings. If you enabled optional iCloud save backup, copies of saves may remain in your iCloud Drive until you delete them there.
